Sorry to hear ... good luck with the claim (don't think you'll succeed though).

    Cheers,

      Go take photos.. Now!

My brother hit a pothole and destroyed two mags/tyres a few years ago.

He went back to the scene, took a few photos and got quotes for repair/replacement (Every place said they refuse to repair all but the slightest damage on wheels because it is too dangerous).

After a few letters back and forth he got replacement value out of the Coucil (~$1000 iirc)

        Yes I have

Just need to photo the pothole straight away
My BMW hit one after some severe rain & trashed my rim & tyre
I photographed the spot as well as some other cars hitting it & called the council for that area
They asked for evidence & I sent COPY'S & a quote to them.
The pothole was also fixed within an hour of my call so make sure you get photos.

The money was sent out about 6 weeks later

        Good Luck

        Mark

Stuffed one of my tyres about 18 months ago on road they had stripped the top of but decided to not put any signs up for and hit a hole they left, I rang the local council and they then put me in contact with the contractor who busted the road, he ended up paying for the tyre although chucked a spaz when he found out one tyre (Conti SC2) cost over $400.

It was a lot of effort but still glad i persisted with it. Best of luck with it.

Oh and i got photos of the road and tyre too, so yeah i think that helps.

a few years ago with my snow plough front end on my vr6,I hit one of those metal panels(in the wet so I couldnt stop) that they put over ditches.it had moved and exposed the ditch.i fell into it and bar with spolier ripped off car, under and lodged itself under the truck behind me,that had lodged itself on my rear bar!!! haha,,ran to seveneleven, got a disposable and started snapping. The workmen accross the road were laughing, but I explained to NRMA that it was not the trucks fault, but as my photos showed, the DITCH.they did not chase the truckie, but the roadworking company. So they will repair it,if the ditch is that big.

Use a disposable camera if you can - Digital images don't hold up in court IIRC?

ouch man... Surely clamn it. From what I have heard try not to use digital camera, also take more of the surroundings, as in reference point just to be save. Those shiftty bugger may fill in the hole before you get a chance to get your claim finialised.
                        good luck

I tried about 2 yrs ago when I lived in brisbane. Was pulling up outside my office and cliped the kerb and there was a massive sharp bit of metal sticking out of the storm drain. Ripped my tyre wall. Brisbane city council would take no responsibility at all. 8@$t@rds

I had the same thing in Townsville at the start of 2009. Took plenty of photos, but Townsville City Council took no responsibility, and didn't pay up.
