Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • What sports rear mufflers are there OEM style twin tip lenght total 540mm

Like the title says 'What sports rear mufflers are there OEM style twin tip lenght total is 540mm' .

I have a TBE 65mm section with ASpec cannon and would like less attention.

What's out there or who is a good exhaust supplier/fitter here in Brisbane?

    Cheers Al

I got a quote from Trevor at CES for sports rear mufflers OEM style twin tip lenght total 540mm $500.00 supplied & fitted

Next was Mild to Wild at Moss St Slacks Creek as above but $260 supplied & fitted.

I did have one job done by Mild to Wild and quite pleased. Difference is mufflers CES is a true twin outlet while Wild to Mild is Single with twin tips.

Come on guys chip in with some comments.......... cheers Al

I assume they are different mufflers? The price difference would have a lot to do with the design of the muffler used.

Its worth having a look at some of the exhaust threads in the Performance section, here is a recent quote I think is valuable and from a member who has done some crazy projects and I believe knows what he's talking about:

Exhaust tip choice can vary the sound greatly, go for a stainless tip with perforated tube lining and packing to get the best note and reduce the drone on the highway...
This is in response to a qn by a Mk5 GTI owner, but aside from the slightly larger engine, I think it still applies to VW Turbo's in general.

If you ask for something with this spec, I believe your quotes would be more apples for apples and contribute to adding a little flow improvement

I remember seeing another thread with someone who had an X-force muffler? Same style as stock except bigger tips. Looked great and he said it sounded great too!

Ok I have had the Rob Bliss stright thru sports muffler since last Tuesday.

I and am pleased with the lack of drone and so much less intrusive than the ASpec cannon. Not sure if I have lost any power.

The neighbours still claim they can hear our Polo come and go. When it had the ASpec cannon they couldn't tell the differance between Polo and my MY06 WRX...........
