Power Steering Noise

Does/has anyone get a strange noise when turning the wheel, say, in a three point turn - I would describe it as a low sounding electronic whirring - like a small electric motor. Turn the wheel and stop and the sound will continue for a second or two then stop. It almost sounds like it's coming from the front left tweeter but this is not possible when the radios not on. It happens occasionally. Not really a problem (I hope) just interested to see if anyone else has experienced this.

I do hear a soft whirring sound on mine like when I am reversing out the driveway. It is an electro-hydraulic system so I always assumed that it was just the electric pump that I was hearing. Sometimes if I start up and straight away turn the steering wheel there is a split second before the assistance comes in. I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed it but I have noticed it on a few occasions.

Yeah that sounds like it. Almost a pleasant sound - like a far off electronic cricket. Only seems to occur soon after start up. But if it's a 'normal' sound associated with a well functioning part why would it come and go?

The only time I hear it is when the radio is off and when reversing out the driveway. I guess I don't worry about it so I don't actually listen for it. Most of the time I have some tunes playing so then I never hear it.

Shouldnt be a drama there guys , the electronic hydraulic pump combo is housed in the left front wheel housing, thus the noise from the left

Thanks mate. Given my tinititus from many years of constant WAY too much loud music in confined spaces I'm surprised I can hear it
