Coolant change

How often should we change coolant (G12++), by distance or time?

Instinct says 60k or 4years like some other euro cars, but I can't find any reference in the service schedule.

What's the collective wisdom on this?

I went to top up my coolant the other day. Auto One did not have any product that referred to the VW G12+ or the other VW spec.

VW coolant was about $22 and would not be enough for a full change, they may do a larger container for this.

It is life time fill, but by German TUV the life of the car is 5 Years/120,000km. The coolant in many Japanese cars have service life 10 years/160,000km. I suggest change it in 5th year and than every 3-4 years.

edit: Make sure that you use VW G12+ Coolant. It is not expensive compared to anything aftermarket and you know that it will protect the egine.

Fill for life it is but thats a bit open really, considering you will no doubt be doing your cambelt before then and you will do the water pump if you do, and this will mean coolant change anyway. any engine with this type of water pump will have its coolant changed regular do worry about that. Filled for life??? so the thermostat is a fit for life????? says it all , what about Radiator? you might be on your 2nd one by the life period so filled for life itll never be.
Oh and i agree on the G12+ cant go wrong its the one for the job or you will cause engine rot
