  • Polo Gone :( Sad Story - Anyone need a Seat Intake and BMC Airfilter?

    Hey everyone,

Many of you probably dont know me but I got my little polo GTI about 5 months ago and it pains me to say that just over a month ago it was written off. I got rear ended whilst sitting at the lights, the driver hit me whilst I was stationary at 60km/h so the car was declared a write off.

I was really starting to enjoy these great little car and the nice discussions on here. Although only have posted few posts, I was anvid reader of the forum and nearly read all of the posts on this forum!!! I just wanted to say thanks to you guys, even though you might not have known it, you helped me a great deal in modifying the little beast.

The work it had on it before it passed away was: H&R suspension, APR tune, Engine mount, Seat Intake and BMC filter. I had much much more planned but that all came to a close.

Im a firm believer in never buying the same type of car twice as I want to experience a vast array of car before I depart myself haha. Now i have since purchased a WRX (of which has already blown the gearbox lol).

I hadnt even put the Seat intake hose on and I thought maybe someone on here would like it due to the fact that they are no longer doing group buys for them. Just give me what I paid for it and I will throw in the BMC filter which was in the car for 1 week for 50 bucks. Just PM me or msg me on 0404 163 415.

Guys thanks again for all the info and I wish you all the best.

Happy modifying and hope to see some of you at a track day soon.

    Cheers,

    George

I'll take the Seat intake. ooohhh do you still happen to have the stock airbox? I'm trying to source one via wrecking yards and having no chance.

That sucks the big one Very sorry for your loss. What was the go with the WRX gearbox?

Ah, that sucks mate. Best of luck with the Rex. My little polo has served me well for 4 years now, but when I eventually move it on there may well be a rex in its place. (wr blue or pearl white MY09 hatch with a 3in exhaust for that lovely burble ).

              hey george,

sorry to hear it. they're good little cars, but more than that it just sucks that you had a write off- it's always gut wrenching.

              take care, man.

                  Floody,

Let me know you want to come and grab the seat intake, unfortuntely I dont have the stock airbox, but im going to a wreckers tommorow and I will ask for you.

WRX gearbox - too much power and just changed it into third (not hard) then no drive - its ok, i plan for more power and possibly more gearboxes hahah

Let me guess, running over 180wkw in a MY01 or earlier box? Got to love the fragility of the early WRX boxes.... it wasn't until MY02 that they started addressing the problems with the 5spd.

Planning on going for straight cuts and/or dog engagement, or going to try and do a 6spd swap?

If you could grab the airbox, the pipe into the MAF and any mount brackets that would be brilliant. Grab as much stuff to do with the air box and send me a PM with details, you'd be a life saver. I've love to get the seat intake from you.

                        hotcar1600,

any chance you could let me know which wreckers it's going to? I'd love to get the front driver seat if the airbags havent been deployed.... Tired of sliding around in my standard seats!

                          Sorry about your loss

What is it with Polos getting rear-ended sitting at the lights? Our cars aren't THAT small and not exactly unnoticeable. It's a 1-tonne hunk of painted metal for goodness' sake.

I got hit the same way about 2 months ago by a P-plater, dude was apologetic and all and just said he probably should've paid more attention (no kidding!). Damage was minor though, panel beater didn't even replace the bumper cover, just plastic-welded it (didn't know you could do that - it looks brand new!)

Your not safe even sitting still! 'Bout 8-9 years ago I've had a bus drive into me while I was stationary, 70km/h impact speed and almost directly head on, fortunately the car was an old solid type, but I came off battered and bruised! Later emerged that the bus driver was taking a snooze at the wheel! Since then no more crashes for me (knock on wood!) closest thing I've had to it was responding in the Fire Truck and watching a lady pull across traffic in front of us (lights and sirens on) and then mouth off and bird us because we had cut her off!

Sorry for your loss Hot Car! never a good way to have to chose a new car! (though its better than being bingled and repaired and sent off with a car that never feels the same!)
