I think the freight is next to nothing from memory
These are tiny metal bushes - I think they fit in a normalish evelope, they are aluminium and don't really weigh anything. If anyone had a lathe you could knock some up in about 20minutes - if you knew what size they were.
Thanks insanekiwi. I've just ordered a set. USD$20 and it did say shipping cost is included in the price for North America, but the checkout didn't ask for extra for shipping cost for my address, which is Australia, oh well.
noone, have you purchsed these yet? Maybe we can get together and assist each other with the installation?
I definately need more practice with tinkering under the hood.
Open invite to anyone else in Sydney who is interested in this mod!
Just installed these bushings and gearshift feel is much more precise and crisp just like insanekiwi described.
Each shift requires a tad more effort but each gear mechanically 'clicks' into place which is a lot more satisfying than the previous rubbery feel.
Installation is a breeze (I did it in darkness with a torch in my mouth..it should only take about 20-30 minutes), just remove the airbox and the shift bracket is underneath (don't need to remove the battery like the mkv guide says). Remove the bolts, pop out the metal sleeve in between the old rubber bushings and then pop out the rubber bushings and replace with the aluminium ones and bolt her up again.
