  • heat coming from console near clutch pedal

hi all, was wondering if anyone else has something similar to this in their gti?
have noticed that there is a a fair bit of radiant heat coming from the console near the clutch pedal on the gti. its hot pretty much all the time even when those vents arent in use. generally the car has to be running for a 10 mins for the heat to build up. sometimes the plastic gets hot enough that its almost too hot to touch
    thoughts:
normal heater core warming up the surrounding area?
heat coming from the turbo/exhaust, thru the firewall?

The heater core will be right up against the bulkhead almost. There is water in it all the time so heat will radiate.

Yup, I've never noticed any heat like OP mentioned though.

There is the heater, then there is the heat coming off the turbo too. Being so close to the bulkhead you get a fair bit of radiated heat out of there.
I have only really noticed it on long drives (+5 or 6hrs) when I'm not wearing shoes. The left little toe starts to get a bit warm.

            I reckon so.

Could be a new market for Australia Polo's foot rest and heat shield. Maybe you should patent it?

or a heated/cooled foot rest regulated by the flux capacitor
