lowering 20mm anyone?

Well i think the Polo is looking a little high. i dont want to fork out $$££ for Coilovers so i fancy some springs. Seen some Eibach ones for a reasonable price but only 20mm drop. Anyone lowerd 20mm before? It doesnt sound alot. if you have could you fire a picture up : ) See if its worth the money. Thanks

now, if im not wrong, i believe these are the H&R 35mm springs which, on a normal polo, lower it by 35mm, but on a gti, lower it by 20mm front and 15mm rear?

if this is the case, then that's pretty much what to expect the car to look like with a 20mm drop once the springs have settled.

Ive never worked on a Polo before. Rear end should be easy but not sure about the Front.

The H&R come in specific GTI ones that lower 35mm I have a set setting in the boot of my car.

will leave the wheels perfectly centred in the wheel well.


rears are easy to swap out, fronts not so easy(after sedfest I'd say its a right pain in the arse... and I only watched people installing them) but doable from home if you have the tools.

The H&R are good springs and the price is quite reasonable.

If you leave stock shocks, the ride won't be greatly improved and you can get an undulating effect as the shocks and springs are not matched. Its better than stock, but new shocks as well would be the best way forward.

unfortunately, the shocks are a lot more expensive than the springs, so might be a little over your budget.

Fitting the springs and fitting the spring / shocks is most of the same job, just worth a thought.

Many people have the H&R with stock shocks with good results. My front shocks started to give in after about 5,000kms. A few other people have commented on similar issues, but many have not experienced this. My car was still completely drivable, just didn't feel too good over any decent pothole or road degradation.

I lowered mine 20mm with the Eibach Pro Kit... its really not worth it for looks.
still pretty big gaps in the wheel arches.

If you can afford the damper/spring cost to go lower, I would. I shake my head everytime I look at mine closely, and think I should've gone 35mm.
