  • Clutch bleed??

Just bled the brakes on my gti. This led to the thought - I assumed the clutch is hydraulic as it self adjusts, and so do we need to also periodically bleed the clutch system, as it seems to share the reservoir with the brakes? If so, how?

yes the clutch is hydraulic and it feeds off the brake fluid reservoir.

The clutch should be bled the same time as the brakes (every 2 years according to ELSAWIN).

To gain access to the clutch actuator bleeder valve - You'll need to remove the intake pipe ( having skinny arms and hands is a bonus, it's damn tight in there ), the actuator is below the pipe on top of the gearbox.

      Thanks for that.

Is it easier to get at the bleeder valve from under the car? And sorry about the ignorance, but what's ELSAWIN?

Just answered my own question - did the clutch flush from under the car. 20 minute job with the trusty bleeder tool.
