Gearbox..opinions...advise please

I am still under warranty.

Does anyone know if I bought Redline MTL myself, whether the dealer would be able to change the gearbox oil for me as part of a regular service, or would they not have a bar of it as it's not VW approved (or some other crap like that).

I am not having any crunch problems, but smoother gear changes would be nice.

I had exactly the same issue crunching when shifting from 1st to 2nd at high revs, had gearbox oil replaced, but that hasn'r solved anything, finally 3 weeks ago took it back to the dealer and got 2nd gear replaced. Works great now.

it's not the gear, it's the syncho that is messed up.
it's a well known problem with the first Polo GTI's from MY2006 -2007.
believe it was a production problem.
i also had that problem, they will fix it under warranty.
