  • Buzzing Sound 3500-4000rpm

    Hi Guys,

Lately I've been hearing buzzing sound at 3.5-4k rpm on WOT, not loud but noticeable enough. The car has been chipped but stock DV and stock TIP, 39k kms and CEL didn't pops up.

Is it possible the wastegate/spooling noise getting louder or boost leaks? I don't think it's loose turbo bolts coz I didn't get any vibration at cold startup and didn't notice any significant drops in performance either. Puzzled

maybe it's just a loose panel. where does it sound like it's coming from?

is it loud? is there something else that sounds similar to it because trying to diagnose and understand what buzzing sound means over the internet is difficult.

    no power loss?

      Hi,

I don't think it's loose body panel sounds coming from the engine bay. Not loud but noticeable, no noticeable power loss....

        1. could it be something is loose in the engine? try removing the engine cover.
        2. ask someone to rev the car at 3.5k -4k rpm and hold the rpm while u listen to the engine from the outside with the bonnet open.
        3. did someone leave a screw or some tools inside?
        4. does it buzz when you go over rough surfaces?

since you did have the car's front bushes changed recently, check all the screws on the subframe (k frame, arm, etc) to see if they are tight. the source of a sound can be very deceiving at times....

Don't exactly know how your "buzz" sounds - but check two things :
          - check if you hear the buzz - with the windows opened / while opening them - I hear sometimes some kind of buzz when accelerating with the windows closed, but disapears when I open them
          - check the cap of the windshield washer bottle - had the cap not closed properly and it made similar sound to what you are describing.

            Hi,

Thanks for your insight. Managed to find the culprits. One of it is my downpipe's flex flange section showing signs of premature aging while the other is the stock DV.

Forge diverter may help you retain more boost (thus more power)

APR R1 DV is good as well ... you can pick them up cheap from the states

I have also been considering upgrading my DV. I intended to buy the APR R1 but for an extra $30 I went with the Turbosmart Kompact Dual BOV and I can change settings.
                      Current:
                      2023 Mk2 Tiguan R - Lapiz Blue
                      2015 Mk7 Golf R Wolfsburg - Limestone Grey: Stage 2
Gone but not forgotten: 2008 Polo GTI Shadow Blue

At the moment, I'm using VF Engineering DV because I got one used but mint condition at cheap price

Anyways, has anyone of you using Walbro fuel pump as upgrade?
