  • ECS Clutch

    Hey guys,

it seems the stock clutch on my car is on the way out ie, noisy when releasing the clutch, spongy feel.

I was wondering who has the stage 1 or 2 kits and whether its worthwhile spending a bit more for the stage 2 to make sure it lasts.

Also anyone managed to get the clutch replaced on their chipped polos?

    Thanks

Kiel, just had a stage 1 ecs with 14lb flywheel fitted by jmac mate and its amazing, its lighter then the oem but rated alot higher. Unless your planning some serious modding i.e bigger turbo etc just stick with stage1.

As for the other part you wont have a snowflakes chance in hell of VW replacing a clutch under warranty esp when its chipped so just bite the bullet. Btw speak to Lance there online to get the link to the product which includes Australian shipping I think cam to round $450 aus when i bought it with the dollar over 90c

Hey Jase, can you feel any difference regarding acceleration with the 14lb flywheel compared to stock??

just a quick note: i have the stage 1 with the 20.5lbs flywheel (didn't like the idea of my car sounding like a diesel). the clutch pedal feels so much lighter and the bite is fantastic. plus, you have peace of mind.

when the stock clutch was removed, the clutch plate had all sorts of tiny micro cracks everywhere (on both sides).

wouldn't you want to go for a lighter flywheel to allow the engine to spin easier rather than a heavy one??

it's not as simple as that... you have to take torque loss into consideration when going a lighter flywheel. you just have to find a good balance.

in terms of noise from the 14lb mine is quieter than b4 but thats probably more to do with the redline

                            Peroni will stop him leaving.

He has it down to about 3 hours now I think. He has fitted so many Polo clutch kits.
