  • any1 tryed KW v1 on their GTI?

i had a Koni shocks + Eibach springs on my previous Golf MK4. no matter the ride quality and ride comfort which is similar to the stock polo GTI setup

so now i wanna try some new things on my polo GTI, does any mate here using a set of KW V1? is it a big different compare to the stock one? more stiff or similar to the stock suspensions ?

    appreciate if any1 can help.
    thx!

if your going to use it for height i'd so go ahead, but dont waste your money for something so similar as suspension wise.

ive driven/riden in both shock/coilovers from v1 v2 and v3's and the v1's are fantastic i cant fault them ..

      bruno's gti on v1's

Mate, its all about your budget. Start with a dollar figure and see what you can get for it.

You should think about other supporting components (sways, bushes, braces, etc) at the same time, or maybe before you decide to spend a few thousand on some coils / shocks.

i've driven 2 cars with koni and H&R springs with sway bars etc, and they've handled sensationally while still being very complient, so depending on budget and obviously each to their own, a well set-up spring strut combo will flog a standard polo.

You original post referred to ride firmness, not handling though... Also depends on what adjustability you'd like, etc, etc.

With the koni, H&R's, F & R sways bars, strut brace and bushes, you'd be looking around the $2k-$2.5k plus install. But wholly mother she'll get around the corners and not smash your kidney's.

ya in my post i referred to ride firmness, cuz i think the stock suspensions are firm enough for daily use. if i switch to something harder then the stock suspensions my family will complain plus i just wanna go lower. and thats the height i want in bruno's gti! very nice one!!

I have them and love em, you might need to up your budget though, fitted them myself to save a little, check with fusion as he got mine for me. never thought that such a little mod could be so good, good luck. Cheers

Would you mind to tell me how much you pay for the KW V1?

You don't get much for $800. If you are not including the install cost, my AP Coilovers were pretty close to that. A set of shocks are going to cost most of a grand for good ones, springs can be had pretty cheap.

Don't think you are going to get KW for that money unless someone is selling theirs second hand.

I'd expect any coilover is going to be considerably firmer than stock, and at that price point I wouldn't expect longetivity out of it. I had mates buying racing logics a couple of years back cos they were cheap (also did not comply with ADR's), about half of the struts shat themselves in a short period of time. i.e. very hit and miss on quality.

A set of lowered springs and sway bar is about your budget taken care of.

Or look 2nd hand as has been suggested.
