Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Polo aircon!

I have a new POLO which i bought in April 09 and the bloomin aircon hasn't worked properly from new. It's been to the dealers 3 times now for a regas, new thermostat and a new control cluster yet it still doesn't work. The aircon turns on for about 30 secs then kicks out for the next hour unless it chooses to tease me with three seconds of cool air. Anyone else have this problem? It's great, an 09 car black with black in 35 degrees, i keep getting flashbacks from the heat stroke that i'm driving a 68 beetle for christ sake.

There have been a number of threads on the Polo GTI A/C issues before, so please do a search before starting a new one.

Other than that, I had the same issue as you when I bought mine...A/C gave out 3 days after I bought the car. Regas...Then they said they couldn't find the leak with the dye. Get them to have a look with a "Sniffer" in the drivers side foot well. Mine was found to have been leaking from a seal between the T/X Valve and the Evaporator. This could be your problem too.

If the dealer can't fix it I'd be taking it to an A/C specialist for a thorough diagnosis (and maybe thereaten to send the bill to the dealer).
