  • few mods questions.

Hey guys has anyone had a exhaust shop do a dump pipe in melbourne?

Want to get it flashed with an apr soon and cant decide if i should get from them or not. $1200 a bit for a DP is it that much better

from what i read 2.5 is better then 3" ??

Just not sure what to get this done b4 i flash it.

also should i do the forge TIP and seat intake b4 the flash or does it not matter to the tune??

Mods would depend on who you are going to get your tune from. Some places will cater for your mods, other have a generic one size fits all tune.

To an extent the ECU adapts to any hardware changes made but software written specifically for the hardware will make better use of it.

My advice would be do the downpipe, intake and a front mount if you have the readies. Then get a flash.

Custom-Code won't do a Phase 2 unless you have the downpipe and FMIC.

I had my car APR flashed before I had anything else done. There is no problem with doing it before you get the TIP and Intake. Sure the car will breathe better withe the TIP and intake but its not a mandatory you have those before the flash.

As far as the APR dump pipe is concerned I dont think its any better than what a good exhaust shop can do for you. I know many people will disagree with me here. The APR DP is also made by an exhaust shop and although some may argue that its made to APR specs, at the end of the day its still a 2 1/2' pipe with a cat converter. Just make sure you get a good quality cat to go with the DP.

          Personally, 2.5" over 3".

There was debate over having reduced torque with the 3", and personally I was concerned about loosing low end power which is what i normally use for some top end HP which I reserve for a few hard blats and track work.

Mine (in Sydney) cost me <$400 and has a meaner sound and more power (not massive, but my ass tells me so).

If you don't know anywhere, put up a post in the "Recommended repairers and parts suppliers" with what you want (quality work at reasonable price) and call around.

I found that people wouldn't give a specific cost as they didn't know the Polo off the top of their head, but it should be around 300-400.

Get the Seat intake for sure, it does not have to be before as you can always change the tune to stock and back to get it to resynch.

The Tip is a little different, whilst people comment positively on the improvement it brings, I have not seen people rave about it and for the money, it would not be high on my list.
