Help me with my boost

Put a Mars (same brand as after market lights) gauge in today.

Gauge is installed to take feed near manifold.

Seems to reach .9 bar, so looks like the gauge is out by a bit or my car is...

When the car is not boosting, the pressure is negative, assume this is normal?

My boost feels healthy, as its not a gauge I've heard anyone else using, it would not surprise me if its not quite right...

Have to check the connections for the gauge, but it could be I've got a leak...

So, I guess its now time for me to see if I can work out whats going on with my Boost.

I installed the Mars brand boost gauge last week, was pretty underwhelmed with the results.

I installed in similar fashion to the recent guide, tapping off near the manifold.

Seemed to spike to 0.9 bar (about 13 psi) and settle around the 0.9 mark (some where between 11 and 12 psi).

I took a few precautions today as I was unsure about the quality of what I bought off ebay, so I replaced the flimsy clear tube with some better hose.

I flipped the tune (APR V2) off then back on and went for a spin.

Car was boosting a little more than prior, but the boost pressure shows no higher.

So, asside from a Dyno, how do you know if the car is working at its peak?

Is there a way to check the gauge is operating properly?

Where else have people tapped the pressure gauge from, Thinking closer to the turbo rather than the manifold may give me slightly different info...

Best way is to check it with Vag Com & Get the actual data out of the ECU, you will see the boost the car "requests" and then the boost the car is capable on "making". If the two variables are too far apart you have a problem you need to chase down!

I wouldn't trust a boost gauge (it would be a guide only), and often when you start cutting vac lines, you may induce more of a boost problem than you fix!

Yeah I was hoping for some cheap reassurance, seems its led me further down the path of querying whats going on rather than showing me its all good.
