  • Polo corporate discount

As mentioned before we got the following deal over the weekend:

    Polo GTi
    Reflex Silver
    Car mats
    MY07 build,, MY09 compliant
among other things....$25,500 (incl GST) driveaway subject to corporate discount.

So, we provided the standard template letter confirming our eligibility for the corporate discount as provided by our employer. Now the dealership is having trouble processing due to the standard letter provided missing one sentence.

"This vehicle forms part of the employee’s salary/remuneration package."

Now given that the letter states this paragraph:

"The vehicle will be registered in the employee’s name and the employee qualifies to receive our company entitlement under the Volkswagen Corporate Program."

I'm not quite sure what their issue is. We are paying by cash and it does not make sense to salary package a car (FBT etc). What does whether or not we package the car have anything to do with anything?

So just letting them have until tomorrow 2pm to resolve the issue or I go request my refund back and take my business elsewhere.

Personal feedback on buying experience so far 0/10.

Yeah, we weren't even pushing all that hard as we had enough of the purchasing "experience".

For $25.5k we should be at least getting leather pack on there at a minimum. VW were running a special on that a few weeks back but we hadn't made up our minds at that time.

Going back to see if we can't resolve by COB tomorrow. But seriously, whether we package or not is a personal tax decision that is our decision. Wonder if they do require that whether they will agree to reimburse the additional FBT payable over the life of the car as a packaged car?

Oh yeah, VIC for the state so many dealers to go through for a deal. But as I said giving em a chance to get things right before I name names.

your paying cash? no finance?, I'm suprised you even need the corporate discount to get that deal.
If you are happy where you are and they solve the issues fair enough, but I think they are giving you a bum steer.

When I got mine they worked out what the corporate discount would net me I paid $30,500 with leather would of got it for $27,500 on corporate thats 08 build/08 comp in August so no special deals and not the best time to buy. (This is how he got me to sign at the 30 mark as they said it was the on way to get a lower price which was bull**** in the end but hey he found the one part I hadn't researched and screwed me with it)

New polo comes out next year, an 07 build, floor mats are standard unless you gone for rubber and they are getting pissy about you paying cash...I still say walk you'll easily get that deal again if not better.

        Can I ask which dealer?

Yup that's right, paying bank cheque (only cos I don't carry that sort of cash around). So deal should be pretty sweet even without the discount.

What has me pissed is that the letter from the employer specifically states we are eligible for the discount (the wording is clear black and white), and they are hung up on salary packaging eligibility. Does it matter as we aren't going to do that anyway?

So feeling kind of frustrated at where we are at right now.

That's not a very good deal for what is essentially a 2 yr old car.

              buying a polo

have you tried ringing other dealers in other states , try SA where the sales are lower there are two dealers , one in murray bridge and solitaires. Play them against each other, they will deliver it to you. I get corporate discount even without a letter or salary sacrafice.
I just told them that i previously bought a van for my business and that i was thinking of buying a few more ( i haven't at this stage ).

                  NO DEAL!

We agreed that it has been too much drama trying to get the two letters to match exactly and we weren't comfortable with no knowing if we were to get the car at the price we originally agreed. So cancelled the contract.

Agree with you that we could have had leather at that price. There was a red one at Barloworld VW Glen Waverley we saw that was going for around $25-26k drive away (this included free leather from VW or something) but it was the wrong colour.

So it is possible, just depends on the timing and when VW is offering their rebates to dealers.

Anyone care to share their driveaway price and spec? There is a thread on the MK6 forums for the golfs.

Can you not order them new anymore?

Look at the carsales listing about 4-5 ads for dealer new silver GTIs ranging from 25-28 grand, drive away unnegotiated price.

                    CARSALES.COM.AU

the fact you have the money ready to go no need for finance and you can have coporate discount you can walk into any of those dealers and knock off 3-4 grand of the price without even trying

Can you tell which dealer based upon their licence number?

Not sure I know why some are MY07 build MY09 plated. But I'll be sure to get at least a MY08 build MY09 plated one.

no idea if you can but I doubt it, you should be getting 09 build and plated car if you are buying new if not they should be discounting accordingly .

there is a thread in the polo section with prices of what people got but from memory people where driving away with stock cars at around 25-26 mark, cheaper still when the no on road cost deals were going but that was back in 2006 when the polo was new so now when it on it last legs before the new model, with corporate discount, no finance you should do heaps better than that.

Try Werribee on sunday only one guy working his pretty good take his price and go play it off somewhere else.

Not necessarily, they might turn around and say this Corporate rate applies to RRP prices only, Similar to Employee programs perhaps.

Happen to me when I got my last car, Aurion, I was happy to see a special going on with the car, and did my 20% off calculation based on it but it was a nono...

But nethertheless worth a try anyway, the cash on hand should help bring the price down, always play the walk away, start with buy today but lowball first and gradually go up, ensure you ask to throw in extras as you up the ante.
