How different is the polo engine bay to a mk4 golf ?

Is that price for the manufacture of the intercooler or does it include the custom pipework and fitting?

To my knowledge, the reason so many people have gone with the Forge unit (appart from being tried and tested) is that the custom piping / installation work is expensive, so it is not much more to get the Forge unit (well, in a group buy any way).

Off the shelf intercoolers are easy and cheap to get in Australia. As mentioned the pipework costs due to the time required to make the first set.

I had a bigger IC on my A3 than that one but with pipework that went the same route as it suited the inlet manifold design better. That cost 1600 fitted. Subsequent kits would have be 1200 or so as there would be no development to pay for.

I'd consider fronting development costs for a Polo kit, if there was someone in Adelaide that wanted to supply their Polo as a development vehicle and there was a couple of folk really committed to having a kit.

I would be definately interested in an intercooler for $1200

I would be looking for one that would fit without cutting anything. I have seen the APR ones and they look the goods but at $2300 odd a bit out of my price range. I am particularly impressed with how the flow works on the APR design bottom to top makes a lot of sense in my opinion - It would maximise the heat transfer and ensure the hottest gas is in the coldest air flow.

You can get the forge kit landed for about that much...Full kit, no cutting.

Hmm, a tricky one...

I'd be interested in a quality intercooler (maybe not as big as the forge one) for around $800 - $1000, but after that, I'm assuming the Forge one makes sense.

I think the issue with the Seat one is the same, custom connections required. If we could get the Seat cheaply, it would be a good option, but I don't think that its going to be easy...

If they can make a connection kit for the Polo for a few hundred, then shipping for a hundred or so, think we may have a viable option...

I'm assuming the issue is, where is the benefit for PWR to do the engineering unless we can secure a number of orders up front...

I'm also sure there is more to the intercooler design than just the size. A good intercooler design needs testing, which is where the Forge unit is a winner.

theres probably the cheapest best designed FMIC core you could buy for our car, and with the exchange rate atm its even cheaper. shipping is a bit (120US) but it still works out cheaper than anything else.

If its well made, it can't be any worse than the stock SMIC...

Nearly worth a try at the price - figuring out how to hook the thing up will be the issue - but you could spend $800 and still be ahead

At current exchange rates it's $694.00 + freight but it comes with all pipes etc for fitting. Looks pretty good too.

Dont cut corners. Get the forge or APR intercooler.

Testing and research is gott abe worth something. make sit more effective.

So with all this testing... Why does the forge one have alot more pressure drop then the APR one?

Or am i just reading stuff wrong?
