Hahahaha, Yeah, but I don't see that happening any time soon with cars...

i go next week for 60k service and that will cost me less than 500$ (430€)
but it's not done by VW but by a friend who is a mechanic in a audi garage.
so all the parts are official VW parts also.
and i also get new brake pads.
so i think the price is normal... why is it so expensive in aus??
430€ is around the same price as what we pay here. Around $720AU

If youre after cheaper servicing check out your local reputable independant euro specialist and see what they have to say in regards to servicing. Doing it yourself unless you are a qualified mechanic I dont think is worth it. You could end up doing more harm than good.

i only go to the best mechanics i know.
the guy i'm talking about is the head mechanic in an audi garage.
but he know just about everything from the 20VT engines and he has built alot of them including a 450Hp 20Vt engine.
if you see his work you know what i mean, he has great knowledge of VAG-stuff, specially audi S4 and 20VT.

i also don't use the oil what VW recommend, i run on Mobil 1 oil because he recommended it.
it lubricates better with cold start then original oil.
you can compare it to Castrol Edge oil, but as i was told, verry good oil, just not the best for street use.
i trust him completly and i only want the verry best for my GTI

diddn't know that it's more expensive in aus.
and if you want belgium beer, try Jupiler or Jupiler Tauro.
pretty much the best beer from here
