Had a close look at the new MPS yesterday. Initial inspections - seems fairly good for the money, love or dislike styling, but there are many 'closer' inspection things on the car that enlighten as to were the money has been spent. Have a look at the rear hatch hinges - they look extremely weak. Compare them to a Polo !
The rear doors close with a very very thin clunk. The dash binnacle (housing the main gauges) you can shake it all over the place very easily with your hand - its very unusual to be able to move it like you can. and the gps is so small, no current aftermarket unit would sell at that sizing (other than handheld/motorbike units).
The boot space - not bad in size, but you would constantly scuff the bumper surface as it extends too far back from the actual loading area - you would not be able to put a heavy case in without draging it across the paint or bending you back to 'throw it into the boot cavity to prevent touching the painted surface. Verdict - wait for new GTi/buy second hand S3.
