  • Whiteline rear swaybar partnumber

    Im looking for the partnumber for Whiteline's rear swaybar for my Polo GTi 08/09, I can only find for the 02-06 "standard" Polo in application-list.
    Im pretty sure that they make bars for the GTi....

        Noticed that the Whiteline-bar is 20mm, how thick is the stock one?

              Someone mentioned to me (i think) that being FWD we should look at stiffining up the front end first - true or false?

              does either of these lessen body roll?

                I have heared that it is the "none-driving-end" that should be stiffened up.
                =the rear of FWD-cars and the front of RWD-cars.

                That is of course, if you want the car to be more balanced when youre driving at the limit.

                  More balanced?

                  All you're doing is reducing the ability of the rear of the car to body-roll, thus putting extra force on the outside front tyre through a corner. It'll also want to lift the inside rear wheel if you get too enthusiastic.

                  One issue here is that when ESP cuts in and effectively stops accelerating through a corner, with the stiffer rear end, it'll want to oversteer alot.

                  The net gain can be faster, but you'd better know what you're doing...

                  I'd suggest springs and dampers first, but thats just me.

                    I had installed recently. Cornering is much flatter, but I guess I didn't have a good understanding of what that would mean in the big picture.

                    I have found the speed held through corners has been increased. The added pressure on the inside rear wheel keeping the car flat means more tyre surface area on the road (I think...)

                    I have found coupled with my other mods I have less ESP kicking in and messing with my power coming out of corners.

                    Cornering response feels sharper over all, I don't think the Pog on H&R's rolls much, but the stability with the RSB is worth the cash.

                    There is a FSB, but as the front end already has something of this nature, its not as important (in my limited opinion). Its also much harder to fit, so greater cost. RSB without FSB can have snap-oversteer symptoms, but I'm not sure who has actually had this happen in the 9N3.

                      rear sway bar to take some understeer out, tighten up the front end feel, but as has been mentioned can induce oversteer, particularly backing off mid corner. It's about finding a balance for your driving style and car set-up, so get an adjustable swaybar if possible.

                        All this talk of tightening up the front, reducing roll and understeer AND getting some oversteer is making me finally want to get one of these...
