the reason the run car in lower gears is to keep the Vmax of the rolling road down. (please dont start another dyno bagging thread )
I thought when doing a dyno, you run the car in the gear that is closest to a 1:1 ratio. Not sure what that is for the polo...

Do you have any traction/torque steer issues with your car even with the LSD at the power settings your running?

Yes. ESP cuts in through first and 2nd. Not so much in 2nd just depends on the road surface.

Without the LSD the torque steer was less predictable. I found I've got used to the LSD so I know when it will kick in.

Do you feel G-force pulling you into the seat in your car in 2nd/3rd/4th gears?

This is the only aim I have for my car.

Oh dear, sounds like something a certain someone on here would say...

If you are after monster power, try a v8 or twin turbo supra/skyline.

I cant afford a decent euro V8, and don't want to look like a bogan driving a Supra/skyline. Plus I like fuel economy when driven sensibly.

300hp and 400nm (fly wheel) is my goal, I just hope this is achievable on a k04 or I might have to go down the gt2871r route.

There is a decent EVO 7 for sale that I can afford but I'm unsure on buying imports. Plus the Evo might not age too well, and I dont feel comfortable in a hoon car.

I would think that picking up a car already modded to those numbers would be cheaper than:
                    - turbo
                    - clutch
                    - gearbox mods / replacement
                    - custom tune
                    - good suspension
                    - wide tyres for traction
                    - LSD for traction
                    - labor (unless you're good under the hood)

Power is 1 thing, getting it down is the hard part in the Pog.

Better bet would be AWD / RWD.

If you had $25k what would you get?

Is the Pogo with a LSD still not suitable? I just love small cars though. My dream has been buying on of those gen 1 minis and fitting it with a 4efte/vtec in a fwd setup or a hayabusa turbo engine in the rear and have it rwd. But having this done costs in excess of $30k which is crazy money to be spending on a mk1 mini esp since it isnt quite suitable to be used as a daily.

Polo gti is pretty damn small. IMO smaller cars imo give the impression of faster speed = more driving pleasure. + it still looks quite cool

For me I am more sensible... (well...)

I get sick of my cars quite easily... cars usually last average 2 years in my hands, before next one comes along....

Since I owned my first car in 2000
                          1) 2000-2003 MGF VVC 160
                          2) 2003-2005 Mitsubishi Airtrek Turbo-R (SUV with 4G63T with 5 invecs 2 auto)
                          3) 2005-2007 Suzuki Swift 1.5 LTD
                          4) 2007-now VW Polo GTI 9n3

Usually by 2 years, I want a different car... and I actually haven't been for the first time! No Polo is not perfect, gearbox is not as mature / well engineered as the engine, the traction could be a little better....

But there are a lot more positives to suit our economy / trend now..

                          1) Fuel consumption for about 140kwatwheel car = I did 50/50 mix of high way and urban road achieved 6.7 litres/100km. That is 14.9km / litre! I am using 4 bar fuel pressure regulator. It was at peak traffic one way.
                          2) The car is large enough (I have 4 doors which I prefer), to have 4 adults relatively comfortably.
                          3) Has acceleration and speed to match cars those are designed to be sport cars / rally cars... [had so many WRXs / STIs / M3s who were stung by me at the track, they just don't expect you to be fast...]
                          4) It's such a sleeper, only thing I have outside that's visible is 17" wheels, lowering springs, and enlarged exhaust outlets.

It's human nature to chase / wanting more... and I always do want more power, but do I need more?? My car without LSD will light up the wheels in 2nd gear all the time, and sometimes in 3rd as well!

                          Anyway just my 2 cents..
                          06 Polo GTI - REVO Stage 2 = 140kw @ wheels.
06 Golf GTI - Bluefin Stage 1 blacked out with ED30 theme, leather, xenon, etc.

That WAS my budget, and I spent it only just going over in the last week. for that I have a car I really like, with all the bits in my signature.

Once I have my downpipe installed, I'll be looking for about 130kw atw, but I wanted a hot hatch, not a power monster.

I grew up driving my old mans 3.9L falcon, that was a lot of fun on my P's. It handled like a boat, but he's still got it and has clocked around 300,000 kms. If you've never owned a big engine RWD car, spend 10K and flog one for a few months, its fun.

The early WRX's were fairly basic on the inside, but were light. You could pick up a tweaked monster if you are happy with some of the horrible aesthetic changes common on them for a very reasonable price.

To get a polo to be fast, the internals need some work. For 25k, you can have what i've done or a worked Mk1 / Mk2 or a worked WRX / 180SX / 200SX.

Carpoint is a good place to look, I used to use the price criteria and look through all the options for hours...

Depends on your style and where your priorities are.

You get used to it but 2nd pulls nicely. I only notice it in 3rd and 4th when I'm not driving.

I can't answer that coz I haven't had it on the dyno since I put the K04 on.
