  • Plastic Skirts, Front Bar, Bonnet and Roof paint costs...look here!

    Hey all,

I had a bit of a drive around today and thought I'd pop in to a reputable smash repairs for some paint quotes....

PLASTIC LOWER SKIRTS - front, rear and two sides.

    - Light sand, primer and 3 coats + clear (apparently will not see texture) - $350

    - Full sand, primer and a few coats + clear (was not sure how many until he saw the result) - $500 The bloke said there is not a big difference between the look of this finish and the option above, he recommended I chose the cheaper option.

    BONNET

    - Gloss black bonnet (V-style like I currently have) - $250 (includes clear coating the whole bonnet so there is no step-up on edge of paint)

    - Satin black bonnet (V-style) - $200

    FRONT BAR

    - Satin black front bar (covering over current gloss black) - $100

    ROOF

    - Gloss black whole roof section - $300

    - Satin black whole roof section - $220

Apparently the satin black will look a lot better than gloss once painted, but marks easily and looks very average very quickly. Something as simple as a hand mark can not be easily removed.

With my tax return in next week I'll be heading down to get the skirts painted and the roof done in gloss.

I am also thinking of changing the red pin striping on the front bar and bonnet to fluoro green or some other different colour. Brake calipers will have to be painted as well.

Hope this gives some of you a guide as to how much you should be paying if you are interested in doing this.

    Cheers,
    Rhys

If you do I'll most probably have to slash your tyres

thats alright if I can afford the paint job that means I'll be needing new tyres stretched over my wheels to accomodate the drop from the new air ride I'd be installing soon after (so not going to happen anytime soon)

I'll swap to fluro orange then ??
