I haven't worried about the chip yet but it is definately on the cards for the future (to match my bigger turbo when installed ).

Be wary of chipping it straight away. Some reflashes can't be turned off (non APR) and if the dealer finds this then they could void any warranty remaining.

As mentioned by others there are quite a number of companies offering reflashes. All have their pro's and con's (not going to start another chip war) so do your research and take it from there. A number of companies also offer complementary 6 hr trials before you purchase the software (may be something else to consider).

Actually, most tunes can be turned back to stock. GIAC, APR and REVO all can.

Well to be very honest, it's partly finances and do I want to spend a fair bit of money on a chip. I stuffed up my finances by partying lots and buying far too many gadgets and PC gear, 2.5 years since buying the car I hadn't saved a cent until I woke up and got back on track.

The other reason is how good it feels to punch well above my power on the track and concentrate on learning how to drive well and take a corner quicker then most. Not to blow my own horn but the times I've done at Wakey and Oran Park with stock power, street tyres and only a RSB and strut brace are pretty impressive. The faster I can go with the least mods and money spent doing something I love, the better it makes me feel. Compared to just throwing lots of money at it and automatically doing great times.

I also want to chip mine in the future but am looking at my options as I do also want to fit a larger turbo (not K04) and want to see what different companies offer.

Probably looking at something in the GT28 series (I have a GT28R sitting in my garage but it needs a rebuild). Not too sure yet, want to aim for between 180 - 200fwkw

Miss a few track days, sit on the sidelines and theres your money for the chip. Seriously floody, 1.8T badges aside, if there is one must mod, the chip is it.

For people who don't know how to drive maybe, those that just want to plant their foot and shout POOOWWWAAAAA. It's called learning the track, I take much more satisfaction out of taking a faster line and cutting 1/2 a second from a twisty section.

You know what would happen if you and I were on the track together? You'd pass me on the straight, I'd catch you under brakes at the first corner because I'm not going as fast so can brake later (I don't remember reading about your brake upgrade???). Then I'd spend the entire lap on your arse like a haemorrhoid because you think power can beat skill and knowledge. And then here is the best part of my day at the track, you'd get a black flag because you'd be seen as holding me up and if you didn't obey you'd be asked to leave. So I'd pass you and get a few lengths in front, get to the straight and we'd do the entire thing again. At the end of session, I reckon we'd have the same times. You prob don't believe me but you wont track your car so we'll never know

It's not always the fastest car in a straight line that wins the race.

Swingn is always on about a review with the new Boxter vs a few other cars (135i I think was one of them). The Porsche was by far the slowest and least powerful car in a straight line but on the track it beat everything else by a couple of seconds.

The only track power is really an issue on is a drag strip. Any real track needs a good balance of power and handling.
