From Polo Gti to Mazda3 MPS

Hi whubbsie.VERY good question, and it was in the final decision.

It come down to a second hand '08 Golf MK5 Gti at 50,000km. $37k 147kw 280nm.
or for 36k a ex-dealer rubnout demo '08 MPS with leather sprts pack 900km 190kw 380nm
AND a better trade in on the Polo.
With the Golf I'd have to spend additional $$ to mod it and get it up to power levels equivelant to the MPS...I'd have to spend $$ on LSD to handle wheel spin, Front Strut Brace, Rear Sway Bar, ECU upgrade etc...etc...which come stock with the MPS...bang for buck between the two at the time MPS won hands down....Fear not tho, I'l always wave the VW flag and be looking out for the new Polo Gti as lucky is I am my car is subsidised through work so I have the opportunity to "play" with diff cars over time.

ah okay cool, just figured APRed GOLF would of been the closest thing to a family sized polo. but yeah MPS is a lot of bang for you buck was actually a car i was considering but was out of my price range when new.

Then you'll probably have a little buyer's remorse, if you've seen the rather nice GTI for sale in Canberra on the Vortex site!

The mazda3's are rad. Never driven the MPS but a mates brother had ones, and couldn't rave about it more. It had some stuff done to it too, cannot remember what though.

The 'family' car is a mazda3 maxx sport, auto, but given, is very, very fun to drive. Look's hot, white pearl paint, chrome handles, body coloured bumpers and the steering is amazing, it ****s on my golf in that area.

I would leave the car stock, for warranty purposes. There has been quite a number of modded even stock 3MPS's engines go bang.
