  • Fuel cap unlocking

Hi all... just a measly little problem with my new polo (only 2700kms so far!)

The fuel cap seems to pop open enough when i use the central locking that it will not latch shut when i lock the car without my holding it in the correct position. This is kinda annoying! If anyone has any ideas as to what i am doing wrong/how to fix before i take it to the dealer (which is a little bit of a drive away!) that would be most appreciated!

you have to press mine to open it, it doesnt 'pop' on its own. Is it a GTi Polo?

yep... should have to press them in to open them and press them back in to close before operating the central locking.
it should not pop open on its own otherwise it will open each time you unlock the car.

I know this sounds obvious but might still be worth checking:

The rubbery stringy thingy that your inside fuel cap dangles from when it's undone sometimes gets all twisted up and if it gets caught in between the outside lid and the bodywork/the black plastic liner bit then the lid won't shut properly, hence popping out. I always make sure the rubbery thing goes well inside the cavity before closing the lid.
