Because of your original post which I remind you went like this:-Originally posted by Petrina Polo View Post
Why are we arguing about badges on a car?
What an interesting and informative thread.Originally posted by Petrina Polo View PostHi,
We all know that the 1.8T is used by Audi and VW in so many cars. Just about all of them have the 1.8T badge on it. But why not the Polo Gti? save money? weigh it down?

Only in the most recent models have VW and Audi stopped putting displacements on their vehicles. Prior to that, pretty much every model barr the top models being the VW GTI's and Audi S and RS models carried displacement badges. Even the R model dubs have the displacement shown.Originally posted by Timbo View PostRubbish! A large number of Audi and VW models DO NOT have displacement badges. Let's start with the Golf GTI, and then wander around the yard of an Audi dealer. Good grief

People on here get all upset? I dont know why, the facts are the facts. Im just wondering why our car didnt have the badge, they just want to throw insults?
My mate has an S5 Audi and it has the 4.2 badge on it, the Q7 Audi has the badges on it, the A4 has the badges on it.. what are people talking about?
The R32 may as well have the badge on it... the motor is a 3.2 ---> R32

Wow, seriously I think you should do yourself a favour and walk into a brick wall! Your an idiot, I have not seen any other moron ask 5 gazzilion ****ing questions on why the polo is this and why the polo is that. You live in West Sydney so obviously the Polo is not for you, stick to a Commowhore and go and complain on the commo forums how much petrol you just wasted going around the block.Originally posted by Petrina Polo View PostYour 100% correct. BECAUSE IT'S A GTI. People who know cars know what it's got, and people who don't know what it's got are going to ask 'Whats 1.8T mean?' If you passed a standard A4, how are you going to know what engine it's got unless you either look at the engine or put a badge on it?Originally posted by Petrina Polo View PostYour 100% correct. Yes some audi's & vw's have the displacement badges but lets look at the top of the line cars that don't ...
Audi R8
Audi RS4
Audi RS6
Audi S5
Audi S3
VW Golf GTI
VW Polo GTI
VW Golf R32
VW Passat R36
VW Touareg R50
If your mate has a dispplacement badge on his S5 it's because he ordered it with one or put it on like you have with yours, a few examples.

And if I could be bothered even further, find me a top of the line Seat or Skoda with a displacement badge, oh hang on, how many Lambo's have their displacement on the car ... and the big daddy of all VW, where is the Bugatti's displacement badge? :p
This is a stupid argument because you seem to think it's fun to come and be quiet wrong on this forum and create stupid topics. I know the Polo GTI is flawed, it's not the biggest, most powerful, best handling car on the market .. but IMHO it's the best bang for buck going round and if you don't agree well then you're just not having enough fun with your GTI. Sell your car, keep your car, but stop bloody whinging about it

I've never really liked the fitment of badges that weren't intended to be there in the first place, but I don't think the fitment of an OEM looking 1.8t badge would be the worst thing in the world.
I've seen a few threads you've posted about your car, Petrina, and have seen the For Sale thread. It's pretty obvious that you were never quite happy with the Polo 'image'. At the end of the day, there will always be something bigger and faster on the road - we all have to deal with that. Even the Lambo drivers.
For whatever reason, I decided a long while back that I like what hot or warm hatches offer me - the combination of 'sleeper' looks, compact chuckable size and a respectable ability to haul arse either in a straight line or through corners, when needed. Larger cars may or may not offer all that, and often come with insurance premiums to match when they do.
It sounds to me that you should really follow your heart (not your head) and grab hold of a car that you feel has the requisite muscle or masculine chops - I always feel better when I give in and get myself what I want : )
Cars are all about 'horses for courses', and also about how they make us feel.
If you're looking for more 'street cred', I don't really think an additional badge will do it (any more than the GTI badge already does) but I respect your choice.
I always liked the idea of shoe-horning a larger engine into a smaller car, and if the badge serves as a reminder of that, then why not.
I'd love to be driving around in a black `68 Chevy Nova 502 SS, but this is 2009, we've had the 'energy crisis' and the everyman muscle car equivalent these days is the Hot Hatch. The Polo GTI is a modern day muscle car, and bigger isn't always better : )Last edited by sydVR6; 29-07-2009, 11:35 AM.http://www.cardomain.com/id/sydvr6

So did I go and stick this badge on this car?
and stuck another badge on this one.
and this car?
and this car?
But according to you only the top models dont have badges, like Polo Gti and Golf Gti. Because they are better than these cars as per links.Last edited by Petrina Polo; 29-07-2009, 11:36 AM.

VW will not put badges on their cars from now on as they are embarrassed at how small the motors are. I bet you wont see a 1.4 badge on the new golf or Polo. they are embarrassed as consumers will look down on small motors irrespective if they are good or not.
