Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • have to pay for a service 7 days after purchase "not happy"!!

welll took my polo to get one of the rims redone due to a bit of gutter rash and to reset the "insp"(service) warning, the sticker on the service date was 28/11/05 or 15000k's when i purchased it had just under 12k on the clock, asked the guy who sold me the car at the dealership whens the service due he told me at 15k, the warning light came on at 12,700, so ring him up and tell him whats goin on, hes says he just forgott to reset the thing and to take it to services, i get to services today and apparently service was due on the 28/11/05....7 days after purchase, now i have to fork out $350 on service , and the prick wouldnt ring me back...

need suggestions on what to do?

    regards
    vee

    1. Ask to meet with the dealer sales manager, explain the situation calmly and clearly. Document the response.
    2. If no satisfaction, ask to speak with the dealer principal, again explain calmly. Document the response.
    3. If no satisfaction, you now have a choice: take it to the Office of Fair Trading -- http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/ or, you can simply cut and run, change your service dealer, but please make sure you name and shame the offending dealer here

I'd wouldn't get it done. Wait for the 15,000km, the manual doesn't say anything about dates for service, it's based on km.

Also my 15,000km service light never went on. Are you under any special warranty deal with them?

Generally every 6 months on all cars you should give them a minor service, eg oil and what not.

I'd wait. But do what Timbo says nailed it on the mark there mate.

        Which dealer was it from?

I thought that the service indicator was decided apon by the car, depending on how hard it is driven (throttle position, rpm etc).. Not an actual defined km value.. ?
