  • Opinion on wheels - White on my red Pog

After much deliberation, home work, fun and frustration I think I've decided on a new set of rims for my Pog.

These were taken at Tempe Tyres, just sitting the rim next to the car. Quite impressed with the look:

The rims are the Starcorp Diablo (TT style) which are a 17" x 7, 45 offset. They have a nice gloss coating and the wide flat front will make cleaning easy (which is good as the fronts will show up breakdust very quickly)

Wheels don't seem to be more than the 9kgs of the stock rims, but I don't have a specification yet. As they are cheap rims I'm sure they won't be as good as some OEM or Sports rims (Oz or similar), but I'm not planning on any serious track work, so its just about looks and some new rubber (thinking Pirelli, but undecided)

Opinons please, I'm not rushing into it, if I can wait 2 months for my birthday I'll get a contribution, but I cant see me being that patient

I really like them....love that style of wheel for the polo and have always been a big fan of white wheels on red cars

Mmm, not my thing. I think white wheels look cheap and tacky, almost plasticky. The style is ok, the same in a grey or shadow would be nice me thinks. But that only my 0.02c.

I dont mind the white. Although it is a polarising look. You either like it or you dont. Reminds me of the old Nissan skyline silhouettes. They were a cool car back in their day.

On the bright side if you ever curb them you can just fix it with liquid paper

          don't mind the white actually..

nice combo, car would need to be lower for them to work though. the mocked up wheel - arch gap is pretty good imo.

id go the darker colour, looks better and then get nice red powder coated calipars and less brake dust cleaning for the win!! how much were they each and are you getting a deal with new rubber?

I feel the same about white wheels - makes a red car look toy-like, & I think the greys just look dirty.

Don't mind me though, i'm fussy when it comes to wheels.

There is a Golf GTI running around town with those same white wheels... looks OK (in a plastic sort of way)

                  Thanks gents.

Plasticy? Interesting... IMO looks real nice in the flesh (or the metal).

They are cheap rims, I also looked at the Lenso's that a lot of people have in black (but the white with red pin version) but think the white needs a thicker spoke to make it work.

Wish they had a little more poke, the 45 offset is not what I was hoping for, would have been happier with a 32-38, but bugtet is always going to be a restriction.

I think the dark (gun metal and black) get lost in the mix, especially when you're rolling.

Astro, they are $1100 as a package but with crap tyres on them. Will discuss Pirelli options with them, see how bad the damage will be.

Well, atleast it will be somewhat unique, won't have trouble finding it at a meet

go for it, I like it some 10m spacers for a bit of poke and and a nice drop and she'll look sweet, getting your skirts colour coded will make it look even better.

I have the same wheels in Graphite...I don't think white suits the wheel, but thats just me.

Cleaning is my first concern about the Lenso's, they'd end up staying dirty most of the time as they are to hard to quickly wipe down at the servo...

                              Thanks for the input.
