  • Dave you legend

Many of us know Dave loved his Polo GTI, as the photo above clearly illustrates, and his contribution and presence will be missed. As sad as his passing is, I was hoping Polo members (and others) could post some lasting memories and insights about Dave here, ie the funniest thing he wrote, how he handled situations when he was modding etc. I’m sure Dave would enjoy reading this thread.

Well if it wasn't for Dave I wouldn't be driving a Polo. That very cruise the above photo was taken on, he drove over to my house on the northside and took me on the cruise in the Polo. After that, I knew I had to have one. Otherwise I would've been in a VR6 haha. (Do you think all you stirrers can keep the Polo bashing to yourselves for once in your life?).

Most recent memories (still can't believe I'm using that word!) - getting together for some photo's in Fortitude Valley, which was a while ago before the new wheels.

I noted that that banner up there... what happened to Dave?? I know he came to NZ a few times, but never had a chance to catch up with him....

PM if it can't be mentioned on the board, I appreciate.

      Thanks.

My condolence to family and friends.

Sounded like a nice chap... really sorry to hear that.

I am in oncology service so I know what it's like... hope he had good support from all the people around him and from the medical services in Oz.

            Rest in peace Dave.

I looked after his much loved Pog, lowered it and all sorts. He loved the thing. I remember being shotgun in his car when he was showing me an annoying noise he had , but ended up having more fun showing me how his Marangonis stuck to the road like glue We both called it the Wee Beastie!! We had loads in common as he did his schooling in Scotand ( Edinburgh) so we had a laugh about naming the Pog his wee Beastie.
Was a pleasure looking after it and i will continue to do so for his wife Diane, she loves the car.

I never knew him personally, but his presence on the forums and his helpful replies to my many PMs when I first started looking at the Pog made me feel as though I did.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. Thanks for everything, Dave. You will be missed.

Am currently traveling overseas, and am shocked to hear this news. My condolences to his family. Enjoyed the odd PM with Dave about various Polo thoughts, and like everyone else, enjoyed the many jokes he collected and shared. The world is a little less well off today

Although I never really knew him, I'm sure he has contributed to many posts including mine. I was shocked to see that he's left us and I'll be equally as shocked for that to happen to anyone on these forums for that matter. I would sincerely like to send out my condolences to his family and hope they remember him for the funny man he was.

Try and live each day to the fullest as we will not be here forever.

We all take too many things for granted.
