  • Audi S3 brake upgared (Caliper painting)

Hey all finaly spent some time this arvo cleaning the Audi S3 brakes i have. Spent about 2 hours with a wire brush and sand paper trying to get rid of all the dust that has been weathered into the calipers. Think i am almost there.
The Rotors are 312mm i think the standered ones are 288mm.

The next step is to rub down with a solvent to remove any left over grease and oil.
Ill try to paint them as soon as i get a good day.
I am told that they should fit under the 16" wheels.
    Standered Brakes.

TT Brakes(Thanks to Guy Harding pics are from his project polo.)
Same size as S3 i balive.

Will be taking the calpiers after painting to a Brake place to have them all checked out seals ect.
The plan then is to go for EBC green stuff pads, good fluid, Braided lines and then maybe ATE Power Rotors should have the pogo stopping in no time at all.

Will post agin as soon as they are painted and agian once they are on the car.
    Part numbers are:
    Calipers: 1x 8N0 615 423 C (caliper)
    1x 8N0 615 424 C (caliper)
    Caliper Carriers 312mm Audi Caliper Carrier 8N0 615 425 2 EA
    Rotors 312mm Audi Brake Disc 8L0 615 301 2EA

nice work look into some silver wurth spary once rotors are dirt free will stop squeeks and rotors will look like new just spray on rotor surface will run off onto pad at later date

nice work scoring some s3 calipers they are the same as the r32 but without the blue caliper paint,

like your wheels i scored a set for 1000 with rubber brand new.

falken azenis range now have 16s street sick would be worth looking into

The R32 had 334mm (13.1") Vented Two Piece Front Rotors
Two Piston Calipers (with seperate Caliper Carrier
The S3 has a singel Piston Caliper same as the Golf MK4 GTI and i think even the MK5 may be using the same Caliper, i think the front calipers on the polo are the MK5 Golfs Rear Calipers.

the s3 calipers are very similar to the mk5 but with out the springs on the front they looks similar to the original polo if u look through wheel on the pic of your original caliper you can see

Does the Polo not have same calipers as the S3? I know the calipers on my A3 are the same, I just got the 312 brackets and some discs.

Can't vouch for how good the Green Stuff pads I have might be, as you aren't allowed to go fast enough to need good brakes in Australia ;0).... They work ok coming down from 70!

I know the 312s on my Leon Cupra took a hammering following the custom-code flash. I had to cross the Peak district from Chesterfield back to Warrington. Some good driving roads and not too many Police.

Ummm from what i can see the polos front calpiers are very diferent from the S3s.

Maybe the std ones aren't 288 but 280? What thickness are they? 280s are 22mm when new, pretty sure the 288s are 25mm as are the 312s.

Yeah sure do i brought the brakes from a person that had upgraded to Brembos and sold me the old ones for $300. I wanted to see if they would fit my old 1.6L generation Mk4 golf but the hubs were wrong so i have had them sitting around for about a year now. It is time to bolt them onto the pogo.
                        My old golf.
