  • installing pod filter into GTI - need help

    hey guys,

im new to this forum and own a 06 polo gti.
i want to install an apexi pod filter and replace the existing airbox.
ive got a question though, the plastic pipe that runs from the engine block and connects to the top part of the airbox...what do with it when i have removed the top part of the airbox? this plastic pipe clicks into the top part of the airbox so im not too sure what it really does, im guesing it acts as air flow into the engine block. im not too keen on jus leaving it out wide in the open for obvious reasons, dirt going into the engine block?
can anyone help or sugest what i do with this pipe, do i block it off?
anyone who has a pod installed, can u pls advise.
i know some of u are guna recommend goin the seat intake as ive read and searched thru the forum but its fairly xpensive and ive already got this pod filter.

    cheers guys!

I have a Pod on my Polo. The pipe you're talking about is for cold start. DONT block it off. The mini pod filters fit on pretty nice (that's what I did with mine) then re-route it towards the front of the car so it doesn't rattle around.

Good luck, if you do it right you won't regret it
    Cheers,

    John

That's exactly what I did. I don't have a pic but I will take one soon as I'm getting ready to make a new addition under my bonnet (it's a secret).

Get the largest inlet size version you can get and then slide it over the pipe. It will be a bit tight but it will go on (and stay on).
        Cheers,

        John

There is 3 different sizes of mini pod. I'll have a look at home to find out what size mine is cause it fits nicely over the pipe
