only the fronts may require work the rears are pre rolled from factory so cant really go any further with them?

this might be a stupid question but how do you roll the plastics parts of the bumper? or do you just roll the metal and taper it to match the bumpers??

              No respray required fortunately!

The rears where the easiest and just needed rolling and got about a 25mm extension.

The fronts were a gamble! Had to take out the screws and roll the metal tabs into the lip. Got about a 20mm increase however the plastic guard does not quite reach the metal anymore but is still stable in its unsupported suspended state and it does not touch the tyre. I will ask a body shop to help with that soon.

With my next set of tyres I'm am hopefull of running a 235/40R17 without any rubbing issues which I hope will stamp out any wheel spin issues!

On the Polo GTI, the rears are rolled from the factory as has been previously stated... Rolling of the front shouldn't crack the paint, as usually heat is applied to soften it up

If you are taking about 'pumping out' of the guards then yes, this will require metal work - cutting, filling and painting

do you recon 235 rubber will fit under the guard?,........if so this will be a done deal and ill do the same, surely this will help with wheel spin. might get a set of pirelli p zeros under her i think. or those maringonis that everyone is talking about.

if just rolled guards let you fit 235s I'll be surprised

yeah thats wha i was thinking. has anyone ever put some serious thaught into extending the guards to fit bigger rubber underneath? and does anyone have any idea, how much this would cost?

It's a simple case of mathematics not opinion. I currently have 215's on and there is still about 3-4.5cms of room in total of both inner and outer guard and shock clearance. When you go to a 235 tyre you add 2cms of width so it will come down to offset of your rims in the end to get the perfect fit with no scrubbing.
