  • KO4 Turbo review

Hi Folks I have asked this question before but had no reviews from actual Polo Gti owners WITH the KO4. Plenty of wishlisters tho (like myself)

Please if anyone has had the upgrade can they please post on their findings pros..cons..existing mods etc.....

    Thanks heaps

if a passat with k04 can wheelspin 1-3rd with 20's then i cant imagine how the polo would be!! polo would be a rocket with LSD tho..

Don't be afraid, the k04 worth it.

You don't lost anything compared to the k03s, just gain.

My best results with the k03s were 205whp at 4700rpm and 37kgm at 3600rpm. Just with the exhaust done.

The first time on the dyno with the k04-25 I had 250whp at 4600rpm and 45kgm at 4000rpm, but I had the Forge intercooler also.

Any way, it is a good investiment, the Polo is light and fast, you are going to have lots of fun.

I've had K04 for a year now, never had it dyno'd tho. Either I haven't had time or every time I've rung the dyno place with all my previous runs/data he never has a dyno available(he builds them).

It feels like it has more torque then the K03s. As its getting colder I've been spining both wheels in 2nd gear from 4000rpm. 1st gear is useless if planting it. An LSD helps alot. I wouldn't bother upgrading unless you get an LSD at the same time.

he, he I've made a 15year committment to this car...I'll own in a years time.
A ko4 and LSD mod wouldn't come close to taking out a 5year lease on a new 30k car.
                    Mortgage..no..wife... yes now thats expensive!!!!

Think a FMIC should be high on your list...

Honestly, if you are not happy with it as is, you might be better of with a different car... All this work won't get you the results that a Golf GTI or R32 would and would always have the tyre width and FWD traction issues...

Flaps forgive my lack of mechanical knowledge - I have learnt as I have modded the POlo with each consecutive mod. Can you give me a little info on how the LSD aids in and works with the more pwr and torque that the KO4 generates? Cheers

Yeah FMIC is on the list but I'll wait till summer comes around.
KO4 is more off in the long distance but would love some reviews first.
I'm very happy with the way it is but I got the mod bug and as I enjoy the experience of improving the car and as its a 15yr project I wanna play and keep myself intersted.

The LSD delivers the power through both wheels while under acceleration. It is especially noticeable and fun when getting on the throttle through a corner. Before the LSD the car suffered from spinning the inside or lighter tyre. Now the power is delivered across both the weighted and unweighted tyre there is no wheel spin just grip.

I wouldn't bother with an LSD if you don't drive your car on the track or through twisty roads. If you just drive around town, it's a bit useless.

i think what everyone here is talking about is a tbd or a torque bias diferential.
this works in the oposite way to what the polo traction control does. so instead of transfering the power to the wheel of the least traction, a tbd transfers power to the wheel with the most traction.
