  • opinion on second hand GTI

    Hey folks,

Test drove an 05 GTI Polo at Nepean Motor group today. It has 67000 on the clock and they want 24k (although we bought a car there 5 weeks ago and am sure I can get them down)

it drove nicely (didnt feel any strange clutch movements ) and is spotless inside and out. Seats were still firm, engine felt nice and responsive and is white (colour i want)

It is out of factory warranty so i cant purchase an extension - this concerns me a little.

What are the thoughts of the people on here?

    Cheers!

    Brendan

Good luck with your shopping but i reckon its toooooo pricey. From what u said id be expecting it to be around the 20k mark at max. For that price id add a couple thousand and go buy brand new. Look for private sellers. I was having a look on carsales.com the other day and there was quite a few polos on sale for good prices.

I'd look else where, if your looking at second definately look at private sales.. pretty sure you can snap up a 06 model for around 20grand with less kms!

A bit of advice for you...Avoid Nepean Motor Group like Aids...I bought my 07 Polo through them, and had nothing but trouble with them. Parts not delivered that were meant to, they use a dodgy window tinter that I am still trying to get fixed, and to top it off, they are just plain lairs...
24g's is pretty steep in my opinion, and I thought the first model of the 9N3 was the 06 model.
I'm sure you can find a cheaper, newer model at a better place.

New model Polo in the midst too, so devalues current model - look further in my opinion, even private sale.

heres one it took me less then 2mins to search. less kms and a much better price.im sure if you looked evan harder you could probably find a better deal. on the same site there is also 2007 model with 10000kms for 23990, again a much better car for your dollars.

                Good price

I have bought a 2006, Red GTI with <10,000kms for 20K. 1 stone chip in the side bump strip.

There are not a lot on the market in Sydney (assuming you are), so you may have to be patient.

Make sure you are seeing all the ones for sale in your area. Try:
                Carpoint, Tradingpost, Drive.

There are others as well, but these are the big 3 I used.

Personally, 20 - 22k with 20-30 kms shouldn't be too hard to pick up.

If you've got the extra $$$ to spend, you should be able to get a new one for very close to the price you've quoted.

2005, 67,000KM, $24,000. I wonder if it might be a Golf GTI not a Polo

Thats funny, cos Motor announced that VW would release it in May 2006 back in their Feb 06 magazine.
