  • Discounted ECS Clutch

    Hi guys ECS have discounted their Stage 1 clutch kit by 27%

    http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/...ategory=Clutch

    It's the one with the 20.5lbs flywheel (better than the 14lbs option IMO because of the comments made by Chipped in this threat about the noise factorhttp://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=27599

    This is what ECS wrote about the noise and vibration issues;

    This kit was brought to market by ECS to satisfy this customers that want absolutely no "gear" rattle when in neutral or on a deceleration. The ECS 20.5lbs flywheel eliminates all gearbox noise & makes this kit operate just as quiet & as smooth as the OEM clutch, with amazing clamping ability.

    If anyone is interested in getting one that lives in QLD let me know to share the EFT and shipping costs.

    Anthony.

                he,he, sorry mike the Diesel sound to me is the kinda rattle chug a diesel engine makes...prob not so much in todays diesel engines but more the diesels of old. Its a sort of raspy, metallic , chug sound in Neutral and rapsy scraping sound on acceleration. Remember tho I have my engine cover off and bonnet material sound proof thingy removed also..so I'm more prone to hear these things. In all said tho. the 14lb flywheel gives a bit more accelaration...yummmy.

                  My clutch install was about $500.
                  Airfreight from USA was $323.

                    I've been doing loads of research, thanks to Duncan (Chipped) & Gavin for the replies, but I'm not ready to purchase yet unfortuntely.

                    So if it has 20-30% more clamping force than stock and stock is around 600kg, this should be rated at around 720-780kg? Is that how it works?

                        i think you are right with the maths. i rea somewhere (could evan be the ecs site) that had max rated kw that each clutch could handle. call me basic, but that makes things a little less confusing from my point of view/

                          Power handling isn't a problem. The rating of the pressure plate affects how heavy the clutch pedal is, which is a problem. E.g. I've driven a Polo with the 1000kg pressure plate and that's too heavy for me on a daily basis.

                            Ive fitted this set up to a Polo that has K04 and the feel is factory, very nice compared to some. When i say factory there is of course a bit of difference having the heavy plate but pretty much factory feel ( as advertised) make sure if anyone is buying one to use a VW release bearing.
