Just with the stock wheels, has anyone tried to paint the inside of the spokes black?

I ask because what erks me is that when I look at them, I don't notice the spokes as much as I do 5 circles, which is annoying, because if the spokes stood out more, they'd look 10 times better I think.

I've noticed on the 18" version above, the spokes stand out more than the circles, but to get the same effect on the 16" (& maybe 17"), you'd need to colour the inside of the spokes black.

    Here's a rough photoshopped job for comparison on 16s, (or they could be 17s?);
    Stock...

    With darkened inner spokes...

    What do you think?

Where would be the best place to get this sort of thing done, if you'd want a professional to do it?

Yeah I reckon they're way meaner this way. They also look less like a plastic hubcap, as the originals do from a distance.

You probably wouldn't even need to paint the whole inside area. Maybe just the outer "lips" that link the spokes together.

Oh chipped, sorry, but I haven't even got the car yet lol.

Looking to buy in a month, but this may be my first mod to the thing, if i'm able to get it done properly, without it looking cheap.

the reason the 18's look like the spokes stand out more is because they have a machined face, not painted, therefore have a sharper edge and more shiny face...

What was the suspension / spring setup for that ride? Looks mean (and mean on your ass).
it was on coilovers wound right down, adjusters out of the back, the ride was really bad thats why im on 17" now plenty big enough!!

excuse me if this is horribly dumb,

But is the pattern the same between the polo and the golf gtis?

Reason i ask is a like the denver rims, but would love to go bigger than the 16x6.5standards.

                  ta!

out of luck mate Golf is 5x112, Polo is 5x100

you can get reps in 17" in the right pattern from South Africa and I've seen them on some US ebay sites too but that will cost you a fortune.

you can get them in 17" as well as 18" in south africa at the correct 5/100pcd and they are comparatively cheap - what will kill that though is when you have to add shipping to it

Without shipping wheels in from south africa, has anyone seen any replica wheels in OZ for the Polo GTI in 17inch?

I find them in 5/112 on various wheel websites, but in 5/100 its a little tougher.

thats the problem you can get them in 5x112 but not 5x100, and the offset on the 5x112 doesn't work for adaptors

GoLfMan - those top ones are the audi TT wheels - sometimes called the "Phat 5's" - the original audi ones cost a packet but here in South africa you can get replica's at around 1/3rd the audi price - defintely gonna be my next set of wheels - see my post somewhere up above - they look amazing on any VW especially when polished
