I have been told by one of our local VW mechanics that a VR6 clutch will fit with some slight modification. Is that the kind of info you're after. This was the mechanic, Bug_racer, drop him a PM.

It's been done a couple of times over here. I am not aware that the VR6 clutch needs to be modified in any way to make it work.

Yeah I have done it a few times. G3 TDI solid flywheel or 16v Cupra one.

        VR6 clutch fits straight on.

or since your getting your hands dirty anyway why dont you get a ecs clutch with a light weight flywheel.sure there more expensive but worth it in the long run.

how does it feel? better responce on aceleration?,..........how much did it cost you fitted?

sorry to post off topic, though to reinforce my point before if your taking your pogo apart best to do it only once with a stronger longer lasting clutch.well thats what im doing when mine dies anyway.

another option i can happily advise on is the following setup.
is a 12lb Eurospec Flywheel + vr6 clutch kit but do get genuine throw out bearing.

No mods required to get these clutch kits installed.

However you will find the clutch to be a little stiff for the first 500 - 800kms while it's bedding in, drive lightly for around 350kms and slow increase to spirited driving. Once bedded. The clutch combo is super super light has approx 450 - 500nm clamping force. So no slipping will occur.
And is simply the best setup i have driven in a 1.8t.

I have driven 23 Golf gti's with all different kind of clutch kits.
