  • coolant warning light flashing?

Started the car this morning, all fine for about 2 mins then the coolant warning light starts flashing. I turn the car off and check the coolant and under the car...No coolant missing at all. turned the car back on and no light!

Read the manual and it tells you not to drive the car if the light comes on and the coolant is fine...Now the manual doesnt say anything about the light flashing.

So anyone have any ideas on this?

    Thanks in advance.

Is it below the line at all in the reservoir? I know my coolant light has come on when it's just down a tiny bit. Simple solution is to fill it a bit above the line.

Its mid tank, I have read the other threads on here about the light coming on but nothing on the light flashing.

Is that when it's warm or cold? Mine sits above the Max line when it's cold.

I'm fairly sure it flashed when it came on, and was accompanied by lots of 'ding' noises from memory

Was there any dark stuff in the coolant bottle ? When the oil cooler in my Transporter carked it allowed oil to get into the coolant - the coolant sensor freaked out and I got the boing, boing noises, plus the scary stop engine, check coolant, imminent danger of nuclear meltdown etc etc messages. It doesn't take much oil to confuse the coolant sensor.

Also it was a PITA to get ALL the oil out of the coolant - needed lots of strenuous highway driving to get the engine hot enough to finally shift it all to the coolant bottle (the VAG flushing agent is obviously not very effective).

Just top up your coolant bro

                Coolant level

We always topped up bottle to the drip symbol on the side of the bottle, if your levels ok could be a dodgy sensor. Have replaced several under warranty. Cheers'
