  • Fuse Box!!

    Hey All

Newbie here and my first post!

I have a 2007 Polo GTI, great little car, but have just created a huge (maybe) problem for myself....

The reverse light wasn't working so after checking the bulb, I decided to check the fuse box. Unfortunately I got a little confused and read the diagram wrong as I beleive it is for a LHD model in the owners manual. I inadvertantly put a fuse back in the wrong spot, and after trying to figure out which one, I realised I may have misread the diagram.

Now, she wont start, she turns over, but wont fire up. So I have obviously swapped a fuse around inadvertantly, and made it worse by trying to fix it!!

Does anyone know if the fuses are exactly the same as in the manual or are they reversed, as it shows them on the left side....not the right, where they are situated in RHD models. Jeez, I am confused now.....or just blonder than I thought!!

Or could someone send me a pic of theirs so I can match them up?

Any help would be greatly appreciated....

    Hi Mick,

Welcome to the forum. Hmm you do have a problem. I'm assuming you have the wiring diagram from the manual and have been (carefully) tracing which fuse deals with which particular function ... and taking copious notes.

If you're finding it all too difficult, phone your local VW dealer, explain what has happened and get them to come out and fix it.

Alternatively, if you enter details about your location in your profile, some kind WCVW member may live nearby who can help you.

Good luck ... and once again, welcome to the forum.

    Cheers,
    Dave

Mate, best get the car off to the dealer to sort this out. They are the ones that are going to be able to help you out a bit better. That, or get to an Auto Elec to help you out.

if its arse about you should be able to tell by matching up the fuse sizes against the diagram... just sounds like you have put a smaller fuse where a bigger one is meant to go and blown it... hence no longer starts.

Mate you should have free roadside assist with the car. my advise would be to call them, explain the situation and get someone to come have a look at it.
          Cheers,

thanks fellas, yeah I have traced them all back one by one, and I have def. still got somethin' mixed up , so decided to get VW assist in. She has just headed off in a truck to the dealer.

Am just worried about the bill now, whilst I love the GTI, but she can be expensive!

Lesson #1......I will take a pic before I touch that fuse box again!!

                Hey Mate,

You havn't mentioned how many reverse lights weren't working but the Polo's only have one reverse light as the other one is used as the rear fog light so you may not have had a problem to start with
