  • rear seat in polo

    Hi all...
im weighing up my options between the new polo 1.9tdi and a 2008 golf 1.9tdi.

A silly question for you all now... Does the back seat in the polo fold to lie totally flat? (because it would be pretty useful!) i tried to lay it flat at the dealers but it wouldn't. I have a weird feeling that it is supposed to...

    Sorry for the silly question!

    Thanks

think i have done it couple of times, pretty sure you just have to remove the headrests and lift the rear seat bottoms up and fold them forward, kinda hard to explain.

As long as you remove the headrests it folds pretty close to flat. It's not completely there, but it is enough for me to get my mountain bike in (with just the front wheel removed).

EDIT: my back seats are always in the down position - i'll take a photo for you this weekend and post it here, so you can see for yourself.
      Cheers,
      Mark

While we're on the subject, what do you guys do with the parcel shelf? I've yet to find a place to put it so it doesn't get wrecked.

I either put it between the folded seats and the front seats (which isn't really that great) or leave it where it is currently sitting - in my spare room.

the seats dont fold forward as flat as some would think.... with headrests off, i can fit:

              -spare water tank + squeegees
              -wheel chain box
-two sets of snow clothes (pants, vests, HUUUUUUGE Oakley down coat)
              -two pairs boots
-two snowboards with bindings (bindings aint small)
              -medium duffel bag

without impinging on my rearward vision.

its roomy for how small it is.

definitely... I go camping/to festivals quite a few times a year. There are only ever really 2 people in the car at any one time - but chuck in a tent, 2 backpacks, stove, and my partners HUGE esky... If i ever have to take a 3rd person then flatter the rear seat can get the better (for the passenger)

Also... need to know for those trips to ikea would be nice to have flat pack rear seats for the flat pack furniture

Well then, I've done the IKEA run in my car and fit in a large bookcase, 2 large CD towers (all over 2m), and about $400 worth of smaller flat-pack boxes and other stuff. It all fit comfortably in my car.

I took the headrests off, folded the seats down and stood the parcel tray up on the inside of one of the sides of the car. I have also put it down in behind the front seats.

Also remember, if you put your front seats forward you can fit more in

this is probably a silly question, but are there any sensors located anywhere near the back seat?, because if there isnt im removing mine on the weekend.

you know it's illegal unless you have the car registered as a 2-seater....you will need a mod plate.
