    No water?!?

    Hi Guys,

    Turned over the polo this morning to find a nice red low water warning light.

    Called vw assist who said just top it up. So I did natually. The bubble thing was completely empty, so I filled it up regular water and turned it on.

    The water level seemed to stablize half way between max and the top.

    Im really worried about this, because the same thing happened on my Mk3- and I ended up having to fill the ****er up once a week. I took my vw for a service in november, and got them to fix the aircon noise I had. (a really loud whining) - they replaced the aircon pump, so I'm thinking they damaged something in the water system?

    On friday im driving to brisbane from sydney, and back 3 days later. I really dont need these issues on my trip. My car is just about to run out of warranty too.

    Its due for its 75,000km service very soon. So I think I'll have to get it serviced before friday. I so didnt want to take it back to VW because the last service cost $850. - But I dont think I have a choice if I need something done on warranty...

    so pissed off! Do you think this could be a once off? does this happen to a lot of people?

    Mmmmm...Maybe worth heading into VW to get someone to check it out. Just for piece of mind more than anything.

      Get them too pressure test it.

      Id place money on your radiator leaking.

        I'd be getting it checked properly - last thing you need on a trip is engine trouble.

        Seeing as your warranty expires soon it might be worth getting a thorough check done on everything (maybe by a good VW independent). Might save you a lot of $$$.

          See how when you filled it, it goes well above max?

          Mine did the same, somehow the water disappears somewhere and magically reappears once you've already addressed the problem. I put maybe 100mL in mine, started it up again and the biatch overflowed.

          Edit: Hasn't happened since, but make up some additional coolant (maybe 1L) and keep it in your boot (strapped down) if it worries you. A past car of mine liked leaking oil, only leaked 200mL per month, but for peace of mind I just left 4L of oil in the boot so if I was ever in trouble it was there.

            also.

            I didnt service my car after 50000k's at vw and i was still getting warrenty stuff done right up till 100000

              times 2 happened to me plastic end of radiaator where leaking replaced under warranty
