If it really does ride as low as this,

then they will look great, but they always photoshop them to be lower than normal. Plus those wheels look pretty big as well, doubt they will be available on most models, or a $3k option...

    Turbo 1.2L? So a no-no for P platers?

I know in NSW P platers can apply for exemptions on "Low - Mid" powered turbo cars through the RTA. I've been looking into this so my GF can drive my Polo GTI. Examples of cars they say you can get exemptions for are 1.8T Golf, Jetta and Passat. So looking at this having a 1.2T or a twin charge 1.4 I can't see an issue with it.
      Cheers,

1.2 TSI for 77kW as the gun engine... Pretty poor effort there if you ask me... hopefully the GTI gets more

Well the current 1.6 is the best below the Gti, and it's 77kw as well, but they say the new ones will be lighter, so faster then?

I doubt they'll make the Gti faster than currently, as the new Golf Gti is supposed to do what a 7.1s 0-100? If that's so, poor effort there, with the new wrx doing 5.2s..

Whats the "gun" engine in the current range? -> 1.6L 77kw engine!

The Gti will no doubt get the 1.4 TSI engine.

Hopefully the GTI gets something a little bigger than the 1.4 (1.6TSi perhaps )

Another advantage besides the less weight is the 7 speed DSG. That's gotta make it a fair bit quicker than the current equivalent (1.6L).
              Cheers,

Yes the new Polo's are lighter. The cars are larger but the engines and fittings are lighter, making the car lighter overall. Keep in mind also that forced induction engines have significantly higher levels of torque than N/A engines. With cars as small as the Polo, torque increases will be the key to faster accellaration.

As for the new Polo GTI, it will have the 1.4 TSI engine which is much lighter and has a claimed output of 125kW/240Nm, compared to the current 110kW/220Nm. Add the DSG gearbox available in the new generation Polo (possibly standard in the upcoming GTI ) and i'm sure 0-100 times will be quicker than the current model. Lighter car with a more powerful engine and a fast-changing gearbox, would be surprised if it was the same as the current.

I reckon the 1.4 TSI is all you can hope for in the new GTI. AFter all, that's the base for the new Audi S1. I suspect we'll see some interesting tuning developments by the time it gets to market

Whilst I haven't seen the GTI version you can tell how its gonna look. To be honest I prefer the grill/front end of our current model. The current model looks unlike any other car, apart from perhaps an Audi or Golf obviously but the new shape looks just too generic and really could be any car. Looks a little subaru'ish to me. But the bits I do like is the back end which is beefed up considerably and the fact its stance is 3cm wider has got to translate to superior handling. Also the flared wheel arches comfortably accommodate 215s.
I actually wish they had made one with the current front end with the new beefy back end and wider flared stance. Now that would look sweet. To me anyway.

Um...yes Lost in very poor translation! Apparently we have seven-swiftness gearboxes too, not seven-speed lol

I like the back end particuarly, looks much beefier than the current model

                                Nice.

Here's my quick impression of what the GTI might look like based on these images and cues from the Golf GTI and R20 concept renders.
