Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

when i get them on i'll see if there is any scrubbing. i'm hoping not.

keep in mind the tyres will be stretched.

yeah the stock rims a weeny 6.5" wide. Thats why if you look at the 205's on them you can actually see they can be stretched at least another 5mm on either side because they sorta have a lip of unused rubber. That's why 7" is the minimum recommend rim for a 205, 7.5" is probably ideal and 8" is a little stretched although still very much doable. 9" inch is doable but looks a little odd if you ask me.

I've got aftermarket 17x7's on so I've never really looked into the specs of the stocko's, I bought the car with the wheels it currently has on it.

I have recently replaced the wheels with RS4 replicas. 17 x 7.5 with 205/40/17. It's ET 38. Look spot on in terms of width. I was comtemplating with ET 35, but really happy with ET38.

Will try to post up photos

Just a query; what is "staggered fitment" in regards to the type of wheel?
