When opening a polo tailgate, there's sometimes a brief - under 2 second - loud whirring noise that sounds like an electric motor resetting a spring. This comes from inside the tailgate, and definitely isn't the fuel pump priming as when the driver's door is opened. Any clues?

Whatever happened to good ol' fashioned mechanical linkage? This first time I opened the boot I thought "what the hell? This isn't a lever it's a switch!"
Blow a fuse and you'll have to open the boot from the inside, my MY08 doesn't even get a keyhole - is this a model year thing cos I've seen Polos with a keyhole in the hatch handle?
I suppose it does make it marginally more tamper-proof...Last edited by Roodosutaa; 02-02-2009, 04:52 PM.
