I realise this may be a personal & private issue but I was wondering what other forum members here are paying for the insurance of their Polo GTI?

I am insured with Lumley. I am 38, have an excess of $200 and my insurance for the next year just came in at $660. I was wondering how that shapes up with everyone else? Anyone willing to share what they're currently paying?

    Cheers

Before you start another thread, it's handy to search. There's at least 10 previous threads with "insurance" in the title, in the Polo sub-forum

Oh ok Tim. With all due respects I did do a search because I knew you guys would jump on me buy I couldn't bring up anything specific to insurance premiums. Lots of threads mentioning insurance but fairly non-specific. Care to point me in the right direction?
      cheers

Hi mate, I'm 27, insured with AAMI and paid around $900 full comprehensive covering, forge tip, ecu tune, FMIC intercooler and other after market pipes and hoses. Excess is currently $550 I think (off the top of my head).

So I reckon your insurance premium is really cheap especially with excess of only $200 bucks. If only mine were that cheap

        Hope this helps.

if you guys are going to compare premiums, then you need to advise the value the car is covered for, and if its market or agreed. these are 2 variables that have big impacts on premiums

Thanks Blitzen. Obviously I am not quite so "search" savy as the rest! Appologies.

Anyway very true, I guess the value is significant to the calculation. Mine is also agreed value of $25400. Although technically they came up with that figure not me.
So I guess my premium sounds about right then. Still pretty dear tho none the less.

Ive posted this elsewhere, but a tip for you all, if you are buying a new car.

"Agreed Value" policies cost around 20% more than an identical, "Market Value" policy, however, most are willing to pay the extra premium for peace of mind.

However, if you are buying a new car, most policies have a 'new for old' replacement clause, usually for 1, 2 or even 3 years.

If this is the case, then it is only necessary to buy market value policy, whilst the new for old period is valid (saving yourself 20% p.a for that period), and then convert to an 'agreed value' policy, after the new for old period has expired.

Hahahahaha...No worries man. I just typed in 'Polo Insurance' into the search bar, and they were the 3 most relevant threads for what you were after...About 25 pages of threads came up though.
