Hi folks, when I'm driving today the ESP light suddenly stay on and I cannot swith it off by pressing the button I tried to switch off the engine and on but it still stay on do u know what the problem is?

By the way I just changed the battery today and now running on a different size of spare tyre..
What is the problem there? Is it the tyre or the battery?

.... not meaning to take the piss.... but you sure its the the tyre pressure indicator?

If you change wheels it will set that off.

That happened to mine when it was on the dyno once. I'm told the ESP light is on until is learns what having traction is like. So after the battery came out it was reset and had to learn again. Takes a few kms.

are you sure it's the ESP or is it the EPC light. my EPC light came on once and it was just my brake light was out...had a faulty brake light switch (common problem apparently).

if it is the ESP light, this happened to someone else recently, they found out that they didn't switch between APR programs properly and the system was struggling to register what was going on. he just had to redo the program switch procedure properly and it was sorted.

              +1 for APR switching solution

              Try re-engaging the program

Just have a VAG COM scan and it comes up with following fault codes:

                00778 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85)

                02214 - Tire Pressure Warning

Now i reset the code and see it will comes up again, so may be give it a scan tomorrow after work... keep you guys update!

                Thx folks!

cuz i'm now running a different size of spare tyre...
and it takes a few KMs to let her learn again!

                        Hi Kelvin,

No haven't been able to check it with Vagcom yet. Will prob get to a dealer next week so they can check it for me. It's so intermittant that it wouldn't surprise me if they find nothing.
                        Cheers,

                        John

esp work by measuring tyres rotation, if you got 1 different wheel size in there, esp & abs will not functioning properly hence code.

Thats right guys, abs and esp all calculated by rolling radius, tyre pressures included, which allowed them to get rid of the RF transmittors in the valves
