  • H&R Springs for Polo GTI

    Hey all,

I have recently been in contact with Orange-Tuning regarding H&R 35mm Sport Spring and was going to get some sent over but due to recent purchases I have delayed this. Instead of just deleting my quote I thought i'd post it up here in case anyone else was interested in getting a set. The following quote is for both one (1) set and two (2) sets to be sent over. Obviously works out cheaper for two sets to be sent over and still staying under the $1000 stamp duty bracket. You could also get 3 sets in and still be under the $1000, working out even cheaper per set.

    Dear Rhys,

thank you very much for your enquiry. We would like to quote you the following:

H&R Sport Springs (part no.29333-3) = 110,00 Euro excl. Germany VAT

+ Shipping Deutsche Post Economy = 48,00 Euro (for one set)

+ Shipping Deutsche Post Economy = 79,00 Euro (for two sets)

+ Shipping Deutsche Post Economy = 115,00 Euro (for two sets) - these are to QLD, Australia.

Please, let us know. Thank you.

    ____________________________________

For one set to be sent over it will cost AUD$314 total to your door.

For two sets it will cost AUD$297 total for each set.

For three sets its only a couple of dollars cheaper than getting two sets.

    Cheers,
    Rhys

Yeah Orange-Tuning is amongst the cheapest on the net. But you got your calculations wrong. Works out to be cheaper than that. We don't pay VAT don't forget.
According to todays exchange rates, one set will set you back approx. $310 landed and 2 sets is $586 or $293 for each set. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

Yeah there are many who don't realise this because a lot of European & English companies still charge it on exports but technically for exports to Australia they are meant to be VAT free. So whenever you deal with an English/European company its worth asking thats for sure.

And yes if you were going to get more than one set you would have to get them sent to one destination and then split them up. Obviously its not going to be worth it if they have to be posted back to people around the country but for people living in the same area it would be well worth it.

Also, you need to keep them under $1k or you pay import taxes and GST.

Or if you are lucky you might get them to mark the parcel as low as possible to keep it under $1000. Depends on the vendor. Some will state cost price on the parcel. Also the $1000 applies to the value of the goods themselves not the postage. But in any case overseas prices are so cheap compared to Aussie prices that even if you do get stung with customs duty it still works out far cheaper than purchasing local. Its well worth doing the calculation. Duty is only 5% which is nothing really and then they add 10% gst.

So for instance if you purchased goods that are worth $1200 plus postage of say $200, what you pay extra works out to be 5% duty of $1200 which is $60; add this to $1400 and then GST is calculated on $1460 which would be $146. So all up you would be paying an extra $206 so your total investment would be $1660. If buying the equivalent goods locally cost $2000 then you are still well in front in savings. Still well worth pursing in a lot of cases.

                    Rhys,
Keep me posted regarding the delayed purchase, I too may be keen in the near future and happy to assist in getting it all cheaper.

Good prices regardless - will take note of orange-tuning.

no reason my lack of finances should hold you guys back. it's only a quick e-mail to organise it through orange tuning and they seem very helpful.

you guys should get onto it, i won't be ordering mine for at least 6 weeks.
