  • Security code for headunit

I had to disconnect my battery now I need to enter the security code.

Problem is I dont have it and I am not even 100% sure how to enter it in. I never got the user manual for the factory headunit. It never bothered me,who need a manual to operate a simple head unit. Well I need the damn thing now.

Is there 1 code for all Polo head units? Can someone please give me the code and some instructions?

I forget to mention it is a GTI.

Had a look but not much help. The Polo GTI OEM headunit does need a code.

When I reconnected the headunit it came up with "1000"!?

        That's just the default code.

Should be a card in the black folder (which holds the owners manual etc), this has the 4 digit code on it.

id say those codes would be specific to vin number of your car. have you rang the dealership?

I had to ask the dealer after I'd taken mine out, they have access to the VW database - although if I remember correctly, you're only required to enter the code if the head unit is installed in another car, if it's going back into the same car you don't need the code, I think the instruction's written in the manual on how to get the HU to recognise the car, or it might even be as simple as turning the ignition to "on" when it asks for the code - check the manual.

              bro its easy,

go to vw they will take out your head unit, get the serial number off the unit punch it in their system and then give u a code will take less than 15 minutes.

ps dont let them charge u!

Ok, I thought I will let you all know what happened in the end for future reference.

After disconnecting the battery for maybe a day (24hrs) I reconnected it and the OEM headunit on the Polo GTI asked for a pin code.

I didnt have the pin code and had to find a way to get the pin.

Today, almost a week after reconnecting the battery I started the car and the CD player just came on by its self. I didnt put a code in or play around with the deck prior to this.

So I guess a few of you guys were right about the car relearning or resetting the code. The thing is that it took almost a week for it to do it. I have been driving the car everyday from the time the battery was connected till it started working again.

I am just surprised it took so long.
