  • Hi All!

Hi Eveyone, I have been looking at these forums for a while and decided to finally post as I am very close to buying a 2008 Polo GTI. I went and had a drive ,brilillinat fun, really put a smile on my face.My question at this stage is surrounding the servicing schedule.I just want to check that this car has had the attention it deserves,so what I need from you guys is an outlinve of the srevice intervals for the GTI,this way I can check that the ownder has done what he should. egwhen should the first service be done, what does it involve).
Also in regards to the warrenty does this need to be taken back to the dealer it was purchased ? Also I live in South West Sydney NSW(Campbelltown area) does anyone know anyone decent to do servicing etc. Am now researching the APR site ,I have really enjoyed your guys threads on chipping etc.

    thanks all.

Hi and welcome to the forums!

According to my manual and from what the dealer told me, first service is 15,000km. Others on here have reported saying the dealer told them to come back at 7,500km, 10,000km or even 1000km. So it varies.

    Hope that helps. Good luck!

Cool thanks mate.Do you need to take it back to dealer for servicing,or can you have it done else where.Probably really silly question but are initial services covered by warranty? If not I will need to find someone around the Campbelltown area to do this.

No you don't. But if you don't take it to VW, make sure it is someone who uses the proper VW parts and correct oils etc.

The first official service is 15000km or 12 months, whichever comes first. I change oil and filter every 7500km out of personal preference.

Hi verbalhologram, welcome to the Forum.

Just a heads up, VW has just opened at Wakeling's in C'town. They are next to Skoda and will be building a brand new showroom in the next few months with servicing as well.

I live in Narellan so if you want to check anything out on the GTI, or go for a spin just let me know.

We are just round the corner from the new VW dealership on Blaxland Rd.

We are VW / Audi specialists and are happy to look after your VW if you dont get looked after at the dealership, or want a change.

Its good for business for us to have the new dealership around the corner and a sign that thyings are changing out here in the west with regards to what people are driving.

Polo GTI is a top car, I`d have one if I didn`t have 2 kids

I reckon the stereo is better than average and has pretty decent sound quality and decent bass response. However if you plan to add anything to it such as a sub or amp, to do it properly you basically need a new head unit. It can be done using the existing wires as RCA inputs but the sound quality is somewhat affected. Really comes down to how important your mobile sound is to you.

6 speaker and mp3 ok for standard.other tunes i like are the turbo and exhaust tunes i always have the window down a bit when i go for a drive .I get my service done were i bought it at mcgrath sutherland every 12 months they dont take all day give it a was and the nice service woman call in the following days to ask how every thing is .I took it in at one month for a wheel alignment and after that i have never had any warranty work done .I have had some small dash rattles time to time but to me thats nothing .I wanted some thing small ,corners ok and can give the big boys a good run and a car not every ones got.I did not have to put mag wheels exhaust sports seats cd player suspension hot up engine ect because standard it ticked all my boxes.Even insurance is not to bad .i forgot the door hinges these are strong buggers not like the ones on jap cars.
